PYPx19 "The Exhibition" The power of space and time! As a team we have decided that we will symbolically start our PYP Exhibition with a blank canvas. We spent half a day creating stage 1 of the space; and now the room is empty We have a very supportive administration, who provided time for us to be able to invest in preparing the environment so that we are 'walking and talking' the talk! So why an blank canvas? Our Central idea is 'Ideas Reveal Possibilities' and our Exhibition is underpinned by the transdisciplinary(TD) theme 'How we organise ourselves'; student inquiries can draw from any of the six TD themes. The space to learn and discover what they are passionate about is very important, we wanted a physical change with a sense of openness that could lead to students thinking about how they could create work spaces that are individualized to suit each of them. So step one was clear the area. CHECK! Community Space While we value students having their individualised spaces we also value the time spent as a community of learners and we simply do not have enough room in the 4 walls of the learning space to do that. So creative thinking and a mindset of 'can do' from all concerned and we decided to create a 'living room' in the space we refer to as 'the tunnel'; which is a walk way that joins two sections of the 2nd floor of our building and just happens to be the joining wall to Grade 5. So. . . carpets were moved and positioned, sofas and the armchair were put in place. A white board added and a TV/apple TV wall mounted and a display board, to make it comfortable two ceiling fans were mounted and we are ready to go! It really has turned into a great space that until now we hadn't used as a #learning space! Creativity and #mindset looking at possibilities .... mmm maybe a provocation for 'Ideas Reveal Possibilities' ... Let's see.... So our Exhibition journey begins next week I will share our story on the blog and would love to hear from you if you are interested or want to connect. . . So next stop "Monday March 11th"
